Sleep Poem
What is it that is so important about sleep?
Why must our bodies have to restore itself in sleep?
If I never had to sleep, if I could stay awake, always.
If I could sleep but never have to worry about my time running out
It’s dirty, the need, no one can live without it.
No matter how you fight it, you will always lose to it.
It crawls through your insides, begging to take you over.
You want it too just as much as you would rather be rid of it.
If only we weren’t human,
If only we could live forever.
Then what I would probably do,
Is sleep forever.
If only we could sleep forever.
If only we could sleep forever.
If only we could sleep forever.
And in my eternal dream I meet everyone,
I never have to worry about death again.
My father told me that childhood is over when you realize you are going to die.
I’m going to die, (echo, evil whispers) die, die.
And not everything can be accomplished.
I won’t know everything,
I won’t be able to fight in every battle.
What is life’s worth, tell me son,
Does it begin in thy vibrant sun?
I see my days are nothing more than simple numbers,
And no eternal light speaks to me from up or down under.
